Melaleuca Executive Chairman Frank VanderSloot learned the value of hard work on the small farm he grew up. And while attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Frank learned how to save and make his dollars last, graduating with no debt with a bachelor’s degree in business management. After college, Frank VanderSloot worked for two Fortune 500 companies—Automated Data Processing (ADP) and Cox Communications.

Melaleuca: The Wellness Company

In 1985, Frank VanderSloot founded Melaleuca: The Wellness Company in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and served as the company’s CEO for 36 years. He led the company from a fledgling startup to an international wellness company that generates over $2 billion in annual revenue. After four decades, The Wellness Company is still headquartered in Idaho Falls, with operations in 20 countries and territories around the world. The Wellness Company manufactures and distributes more than 400 wellness products, a reflection of Frank’s own commitment to health (Frank has set and still holds six world records in indoor rowing).

In 2022, Frank appointed then President of International Jerry Felton as the new Melaleuca CEO and then transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman of Melaleuca’s board of directors. In this capacity as Executive Chairman, Frank is concerned with on Melaleuca’s corporate strategy and culture, product development, and messaging.

For four consecutive years, The Wellness Company was named by Forbes magazine as one of America’s best employers. The company was also recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best employers for women.

Melaleuca has also been a boon to the East Idaho community. The Regional Economic Development for Eastern Idaho (REDI) awarded Frank the Innovator & Builder of Dynamic Economic Ecosystems award, recognizing him for his positive impact on East Idaho. Much of that impact has been through Melaleuca, which has contributed significantly to East Idaho’s economy through job growth and other factors.

Frank VanderSloot has received many other recognitions, including Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young, the Horatio Alger Award, and the US Chamber of Commerce’s Blue Chip Award. He was also inducted into the Idaho Technology Council’s Hall of Fame, received the Icon Award from the Idaho Business Review, and was recognized as a CEO of Influence by the Idaho Business Review. Frank was also named Idaho Business Leader of the Year by Idaho State University and inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame.

While these different awards and honors recognize different traits and achievements, they all point to one thing—Frank VanderSloot is a leader and an innovator, and he is deeply involved in community and economic development. Under his leadership, Melaleuca grew from a small startup in Idaho to a $2 billion multinational wellness company with a portfolio of hundreds of products.

Riverbend Ranch

Melaleuca Executive Chairman Frank VanderSlootFrank and Belinda founded Riverbend Ranch in 1992. Through individual purchases of cows and bulls, they steadily grew the operation into one the largest Black Angus ranches and commercial cattle operations in the United States. The ranch owns land in Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Idaho; the herd consists of over 62,000 head.

In 2023, the Riverbend Ranch meat processing facility was completed. The state-of-the-art facility was named Best Manufacturing Project in the country by Engineering-News Record. With the completion of the plant, Frank VanderSloot announced that Riverbend Ranch would become a division of Melaleuca, Inc. The integration was an enormous success, and orders poured in for Riverbend Ranch Black Label Beef, the USDA Prime and High Choice beef available only to Melaleuca customers.
